Antique Cars & Motorcycles
Sometimes on a weekend I’m so tired from the week I just don’t feel like doing anything, but on the other hand, I like seeing and taking pictures of new things and I try to do it every week. Although this happens only a mile from my house, I forget that every Saturday night, some of the coolest antique cars, muscle cars, and motorcycles can be seen at a shopping area known as The Pavillions (in Scottsdale at the 101 & Indian Bend Road).

So I decided at sunset to take a drive over there and have a look-see! Not only are there some amazing cars from a ‘53 ford pickup that was velvety purple and beautiful, to a ‘71 Mach 1 Mustang cherry to the edge. Took me back to my high school days (ya, I owned a bumble bee and black Mach 1 that I reallllllly wish I still had). Oddly enough I had watched a movie on HBO named “Dazed and Confused” (about the 70’s) and if you haven’t see it, watch or rent it. If you graduated in the 70’s this will remind you of alot of cool memories.

Anyway, back to the show… Not only are there cool cars, but LOTS of motorcycles (Harleys, Hondas, Ducatis, Suzukis), “vets”, pickups, volkswagen buses, deuce coups, and, well, I saw a couple custom coffins! (ya you read that right). I kinda stood there in amazement, but they had really cool paint jobs and that’s what this show is all about. Motors, classics, paint jobs, and really nice people everywhere. If you are the kind of person that likes chatting about cars, this is without a doubt the place you’ll want to be on Saturdays about sunset.
Every car owner has their lawn chairs strategically placed with their coolers. They sit in front of their cars, they sit behind them, but they all hang out there for hours and if you want a friend, just ask them about their car. Each a labor of love, they are more than willing to chat, answer questions, share their knowledge and experience, and just say Hi! It’s like hanging out at your neighbors garage or driveway… Just a whole lot bigger.
The entire time the adjacent McDonald’s is blasting songs from the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s so believe me, if you’re not in the mood, you will be there after a few songs so take the time to go, look, and talk to all the friendly people who’ll just be hangin!
